Braised Beef & Mushroom Stew



400g stewing beef
3 tbsp flour seasoned with salt & pepper
3 sprigs of rosemary
2 bay leafs
2 carrots
1 onion
2 parsnip
2 cloves of garlic
1 can of diced tomato
1 beef stock cube
handful of porcini mushroom soaked in hot water


combine stewing beef with seasoned flour
heat a pan with olive oil and brown the beef on all sides
prepare a slow cooker
dice all vegetables, onions and garlic and add to slow cooker
add browned beef on top of vegetable
add porcini mushroom and its soaking water, and canned tomato to the slow cooker
mix rosemary, bay leafs and beef stock cubes to the slow cooker
cover the slow cooker and set it to low and cook for 8 – 9 hours
serve beef with rice or mashed potato

#P&Y Tips:

season the flour well and mix it with the beef, browning the beef before adding to the slow cooker gives it more flavour
